The Medical City’s Department of Anesthesiology provides safe anesthesia and patient care that complies with local and international standards and is administered by trained, qualified and board-certified anesthesiologists using up-to-date equipment and techniques.
It has complete anesthesia services, including consultation for patients and other physicians, general anesthesia, spinal and regional analgesia, sedation, management of obstetrical and intensive care patients, and acute and chronic pain management. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The department also offers fully accredited residency and fellowship programs for medical graduates; anesthesia subjects for medical students via the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health; and various lectures, courses and workshops on the latest developments in Anesthesiology.
Services
Anesthesia Management – The department provides anesthesia patient care mainly in the following:
• Surgery Suite
• Delivery Suite (for Obstetric and Gynecologic cases)
• Center for Endoscopic and Physiologic Studies
• Center for Wellness and Aesthetics
However, the department can also provide on-demand services to other hospital units such as:
• Radiology
• Radiation Oncology
• Intensive Care Unit
• Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
• Psychiatry
• Institute for Personalized Molecular Medicine
Anesthesia Preoperative Evaluation Clinic (APEC) – Started in 2009, the clinic provides the opportunity for patients to consult with an anesthesiologist days or weeks prior to the proposed surgery or procedure.The clinic is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturdays.
Pain Management Clinic – The clinic provides care for patients with acute and chronic pain. The clinic is staffed 24/7.
