The Medical City boasts a developmentally supportive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Philippines that places families at the center of care. This specialized unit provides exceptional medical attention to ill or premature newborns, overseen by skilled neonatologists and allied medical professionals. Through collaboration with families, these diligent doctors and staff work tirelessly to restore the infants' health and ensure optimal well-being.
The Neonatal Unit provides comprehensive care for both low-risk and high-risk infants. While the majority of deliveries are full-term and normal, allowing babies to be roomed in with their families shortly after birth, a few require the specialized care of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Philippines as deemed necessary by medical professionals.
Among the exceptional features of the unit are the provision of lactation support through a dedicated Lactation Center and Human Milk Bank, a well-established High-Risk Infant Program, and an Infant Protection System. These services aim to provide the utmost care and support to newborns and their families.
Notably, all staff nurses at the Neonatal Unit undergo rigorous training and are certified through the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), ensuring their competence and expertise in handling critical situations.
