Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation | The Medical City

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation focuses on prevention, rehabilitation, and the clinical management of problems associated with disability. Rehabilitation is an integral part of total medical care, and the department’s goal is to enable the patient to return to his previous lifestyle. This is after a patient’s condition requires prolonged healing, or, in spite of the presence of irreversible pathological deficits. It is best achieved through the coordinated work of various health disciplines composed of the physiatrists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, vocational and social workers, and other medical specialists. All of our patients are considered individual persons, and not just patients with disease.

Our patient’s first experience with our team begins with a consultation with our physiatrists. This is where an individualized rehabilitation program is formed based from the patient’s history, medical background, comprehensive assessment and patient’s goal. They are referred to the physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapist to facilitate and implement the prescribed rehabilitation program.
