The Medical City Clark was named Patient Safety Initiative of the Year – Philippines at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 for its groundbreaking “Safety Starts With Me” campaign in infection prevention and community engagement.
CLARK, Pampanga — The Medical City Clark has been awarded Patient Safety Initiative of the Year – Philippines at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025, held at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre, Grand Ballroom, Level 1. This recognition celebrates the hospital’s groundbreaking campaign, “Safety Starts With Me: A Heartfelt Journey Towards Infection Prevention.”
Launched in July 2024, the “Safety Starts With Me” campaign started a transformative movement within the hospital, enhancing patient care through a much more personal and proactive approach to infection prevention and control. With its tagline, “Clean Hands Save Lives,” the initiative united hospital staff, patients, and the broader community in a shared mission of safety and compassion.
Through innovative programs like “Save That Line!” for hemodialysis patients and the “Creating Hygiene Heroes” with Centro Fidei International School, TMC Clark extended its reach beyond its walls—educating, empowering, and engaging diverse audiences in the fight against infection. These efforts were further pushed during Infection Prevention Week, which highlighted the essential link between hygiene, immunity, and health, and featured the release of the “Safety Starts With Me” video, a call to collective action.
Additionally, the hospital's Antimicrobial Stewardship program tackled the serious threat of antimicrobial resistance through educational sessions that highlighted the responsible use of antibiotics and their impact on long-term health.
This recognition is underscored by measurable improvements in hand hygiene compliance and enhanced community participation, anchored by the revitalization of the Hospital Infection Control and Epidemiology Center (HICEC)—a testament to the Filipino value of malasakit or deep, genuine care.
As The Medical City Clark continues to champion patient safety, this award marks not only a milestone of achievement but also a renewed commitment to creating a future where health and hope flourish—together.
