Collaboration brings healthcare provider and HMO closer together to address affordability, care coordination, and the patient experience
Pasig City, Philippines — The Medical City (TMC) and MediCard Philippines, Inc. (MediCard) have formalized a strategic partnership that seeks to rethink the traditional relationship between healthcare providers and health maintenance organizations (HMOs), with the goal of giving Filipinos better access to quality care while managing healthcare costs.
Through the partnership, TMC and MediCard will work toward a more integrated approach to healthcare delivery across TMC’s network. The agreement seeks to simplify processes for members and healthcare teams while providing access to appropriate care across different stages of the patient journey.
Dr. Stuart Bennett, President Group CEO, The Medical City
“We share a common goal of creating greater value for patients and members. By working together, we can expand access to care while supporting MediCard’s growth and making better use of the capacity across The Medical City network. We hope this partnership can set a precedent for how healthcare providers and HMOs can work more closely together to create sustainable, mutually beneficial arrangements,” said Dr. Stuart Bennett, President and Group CEO of The Medical City.
Dr. Bennett added that the partnership can serve as a model for closer collaboration between healthcare providers and health maintenance organizations, with a single point of coordination helping create a simpler and more consistent experience for both patients and care teams.
For MediCard, the partnership builds on a healthcare approach centered on accessibility without compromising health outcomes or quality of care.
Mr. Julian Mengual, CEO, MediCard
Mr. Mengual notes that the partnership aims for value creation, recognizing that the number one challenge for Filipinos today is paying healthcare bills out-of-pocket. He also highlighted a line sharing “live healthier, longer, better lives,” pursuing the idea that Filipinos can avail of the best low-cost services that still provide quality healthcare.
Through the partnership, TMC and MediCard aim to demonstrate how closer collaboration between healthcare providers and HMOs can create a system that works better for patients: one where care is easier to navigate, resources are used more effectively, and members can access the right care at the right time.
