The Medical City solidified its place among the world’s best at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025, winning six major honors — including a 4-peat as Hospital of the Year and a 4-star Global Hospital Rating.
April 11, 2024, Manila, Philippines–In a year when the global healthcare industry continues to reckon with rising expectations, fast-evolving technologies, and patient empowerment, one Philippine institution quietly carved a place for itself — not just among local leaders, but among the world’s finest.
The Medical City, the country’s largest private healthcare network under a single brand, was recently honored at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 with five major accolades, headlined by its fourth consecutive win as Hospital of the Year – Philippines. The recognition alone is significant — but the deeper story lies in how this hospital system has elevated care across the entire network, expanded access to quality, and earned the respect of global evaluators.
4-Peat Hospital of the Year – The Medical City Ortigas
For the fourth year in a row, The Medical City Ortigas was named Hospital of the Year – Philippines, a title reserved for institutions that continuously raise the bar for medical excellence, patient experience, and systems innovation.
In 2024, TMC Ortigas secured its 7th consecutive Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation — an achievement that reflects years of sustained compliance with the highest global standards. It is also home to the first and only JCI-certified Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) Program in the Philippines, designed to deliver life-saving intervention within 90 minutes — a benchmark followed by the best cardiac centers worldwide.
TMC Ortigas was also awarded Public-Private Partnership of the Year for its growing ecosystem of government collaborations — from liver transplant access programs for children, to partnerships with Rizal Medical Center and other public institutions.
Bridging Healthcare Gaps in the Regions - TMC Iloilo Wins Secondary Hospital of the Year
In Western Visayas, The Medical City Iloilo continued to lead with its “Trailblazer in Healthcare” identity — and was named Secondary Hospital of the Year for 2025.
TMCI was the only Tier 2 Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital in Iloilo accredited by the Stroke Society of the Philippines, and maintained its role as a trusted government partner for
grassroots health programs, vaccination drives, and COVID-19 response. It also received back-to-back honors for infection prevention and workforce resilience .
The Frontline of Primary Care – The Medical City Clinics
The Medical City Clinics (TMC Clinics), with over 70 locations nationwide, was once again named Primary Care Provider of the Year — for the third consecutive year.
In 2024 alone, TMC Clinics opened 12 new branches, onboarded over 250 physicians, and implemented full-scale digital transformation — including an integrated ERP system, EHR rollout, and centralized appointment systems. It also launched “TMC Wellness at Work,” a corporate clinic partnership model now operating in 15 companies across 28 sites
Patient Safety Program of the Year – The Medical City Clark
The Medical City Clark earned its first-ever Patient Safety Program of the Year award for its “Safety Starts With Me” campaign — a network-wide initiative rooted in compassion, behavior change, and infection control. The program included staff-led antimicrobial stewardship, youth hygiene education, and dialysis safety protocols — all anchored on the Filipino value of malasakit .
In 2024, TMC Clark also secured its first JCI accreditation, making it the only hospital outside Metro Manila to hold the internationally recognized Gold Seal of Approval .
Globally Ranked – Global Hospital Rating (GHR) by Newsweek and Statista
Perhaps the most significant milestone of all came quietly: The Medical City was awarded a 4-star rating under the Global Hospital Rating, developed by Newsweek and Statista.
TMC is the only Philippine hospital to be comprehensively ranked under this global system, which evaluates institutions across five dimensions:
• Provision of Care
• Timeliness
• Patient Safety & Experience
• Medical Technology
• Employer Attractiveness
This places TMC alongside globally respected institutions— a remarkable affirmation of how far Philippine healthcare has come.
A Legacy Built on Trust
“We never set out to win awards — we set out to earn trust. To serve with integrity, lead with heart, and deliver world-class care that never forgets its roots,” said Dr. Stuart Bennett, President and Group CEO of The Medical City. “Being named Hospital of the Year for the fourth year in a row is an extraordinary honor — not because of the recognition, but because it affirms what we’ve always believed: that the Philippines can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in global healthcare, powered by skill, compassion, and malasakit.”
With six major awards and a global rating under its name, The Medical City has proven that excellence isn’t just a goal — it’s a way of operating, growing, and serving.
