Hosted on December 16, 2023, with meticulous planning and executed with precision, the summit brought together leading experts, healthcare professionals, and enthusiasts from various disciplines to exchange ideas, share experiences, and delve into the latest developments in the field.
At the heart of the summit was the enlightening keynote address delivered by Dato Professor Harikrishna R. Nair, the esteemed President-Elect, Wound Union of Wound Healing Societies. His insightful presentation not only set the tone for the event but also inspired attendees to explore new horizons and push the boundaries of conventional wound care practices.
"International wound care is a mosaic of best practices, woven together by the threads of experience from healers worldwide." Dato Harikrishna says.
The summit's first segment was dedicated to engaging lectures and didactics, where speakers like Rhyan Hitalla, Jason Roxas, Joseph Imperial, and Vanessa Segui captivated the audience with their expertise and diverse perspectives. Hitalla's discourse on establishing a wound care center provided invaluable insights for those looking to venture into this specialized field, while Roxas' exploration of Lymphedema Therapy shed light on a crucial aspect of wound management often overlooked. Imperial's discussion on Stomas Markings and Planning and Segui's unique take on the Time Concept from a nurse's viewpoint added depth and richness to the discourse, sparking lively discussions and igniting new ideas.
The subsequent workshops were a hands-on opportunity for participants to hone their practical skills and deepen their understanding of essential wound care techniques. From mastering Ostomy Pouching Techniques to delving into the intricacies of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) and mastering Bandaging and Compression Therapies, the workshops provided a platform for participants to interact with expert facilitators, share best practices, and learn from real-world scenarios.
One of the summit's most remarkable aspects was the active participation of TMC subsidiaries and network hospitals from South Luzon, Pangasinan and Ilo-ilo, underscoring the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange within the medical community. The summit served as a catalyst for forging new partnerships, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and leveraging collective expertise to tackle the complex challenges of wound care.
Dr. Marco Fulvio Abad, Clinical Director of TMC Wound Care Center delivered his closing remarks: “Let this summit be a catalyst for sustained collaboration, ensuring that the knowledge shared here today continues to ripple across our healthcare landscape”.
In essence, The Medical City 1st Enterprise Wound Care Summit was more than just a gathering of professionals; it was a testament to the unwavering commitment of the healthcare community to push the boundaries of excellence and innovation in wound care. By facilitating dialogue, sharing knowledge, and promoting continuous learning, the summit laid the groundwork for a brighter future where patients receive the highest standard of care, and healthcare professionals are empowered to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.
